Family’s ‘Christmas Vacation’ screen becomes vacation tradition

PITTSBURGH, Penn. —

Pittsburgh homeowners are paying tribute to a classic holiday film – “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”

“I think a lot of people can relate to this, as far as their own families and their happenings around the holidays,” says Dan Hartman. “It’s an iconic movie filmed in the eighties on a family that goes through all the battles of becoming prepared for Christmas.”

Hartman says the screen began with just the RV parked in the driveway. Afterward, he put some lighting on it.

“This season, we included that a replica of Clark Griswold hanging from the gutters,” the homeowner explains.

The screen is now an area tradition. Hartman says a great deal of people stop honk their horns as they pass by or stop to shoot photos.
